Combinations of existing drugs
A medicinal preparation containing a combination of sodium p-aminosalicylate and a zinc-containing compound and pharmaceutically acceptable auxiliary substances is claimed in a Russian patent[1]. It is reported to be highly effective against drug resistant form of tuberculosis complicated by pulmonary tissue destruction.
Combined antituberculosis preparation (rizobutol) has been claimed in a Russian patent[2]. The preparation includes rifampicin, ethambutol, isoniazide, pyrazinamide and pyridoxine taken in the definite ratio of components. Invention provides the enhancement of effectiveness of therapy due to simplification of curative process, resistance overcoming in many patients and improvement of the preparation properties.
